Last time I fitted some the instructions were to spray WD40 or aerosol adhesive inside the grip. So far the WD40 has worked well. Prior to that I have just fitted the grips as they were and that worked well too.

hairspray (as in Harmony etc.) Slide grips on when wet, goes tacky when it dries but not so much that you'll never get 'em off again.

I'd go with boiling water as well. And if you ever want them off again, pour boiling water over them and they will expand and slide off again.

Boiling water sounds good. No hairspray in the house, so been using meths as a lube to get them on/off - then it dries off pretty quick. I have started using lock-on grips on one bike tho, seem less hassle when switching things about and they don't start slipping if you get alot of water, clay, etc under the grips.

Ok thanks all for the tips- I will try hairspray to fit (thanks for the boiling water idea to remove the existing grips)
