I've just done that, I needed to cut the tape back as the levers didn't line up with the brake cable exiting from under the tape. The levers will need to be mounted at about 45 degrees downwards to get a good grip.

Alun thanks for your reply I kind of guessed what you said about the tape being cut just needed someone to confirm

And, conversely, I didn't need to cut the tape when fitting them to my Secteur, so I guess the unhelpful answer is "it depends".

I don't know for sure, as I fitted a set that someone didn't want on their Tricross (so I didn't pay anything for them  ) but I'd guess that they were Shimano as the other levers on the Tricross are Shimano's products.

hoping to fit a set of crosstop levers to the mate bike a tricross 2010.He wants to use a plumbers pipe cutter as he thinks he can cut the outer cable without touching the inner cable, will let you guys know how we get on,might be a new way of cutting outer cable as it is not squashing the cable

He might be able to (carefully) cut the outer without the inner but, erm, how is he going to thread it through the new levers?
