Treated myself to a Bontrager women's saddle for my Sirrus while on a recent holiday in the US ($25, couldn't resist lol), now I need to fit the thing

Being technically inept, looking for how to do this and what tools are needed. Normally, my LBS fits stuff for me, cannot really persuade them this time as I didn't get it from them

Just an allen key of the correct size. The bolt is under the saddle on the seat post - maybe one or two. Size 4-6mm usually.

Undo it, separate both halves of clamp, remove saddle, refit top half of clamp to new saddle, refit, tighten up bolt slightly, ensure saddle is level, then do up tight. Note how far back/forward on the rails your current saddle is, and set up the same, or as near to.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...

Saddles can be different in length, and have diifferent rail lengths, so also measure from handlebars to saddle nose, and to back of saddle, and adjust accordingly. Also measure from top of saddle to ground as saddles can vary a lot in height and you may have to raise or lower the seatpost too.

+1 i measure from the top of the seat along the seat tube to the middle of the bolt that holds the pedal crank on ( centre of the bottom bracket).

I learned the hard way to write all the important measurements down before fiddling with anything that can alter my bike fit on the 3 contact points of feet, derriere and hands.

the current measurements i use are...

top of saddle to centre bottom bracket
top of saddle to centre pedal spindle
saddle set back by dropping a plumb line from saddle nose to the bottom bracket centre
drop in height from saddle to handlebars
nose of saddle to centre of head tube
nose of saddle to hoods
stem length.

I just drew a little piccie of the bike and wrote them all on .

A bit like this ....

All looks a bit technical - it is a hybrid with normal pedals, the saddle wasn't adjusted to me in the first place. I think we'll just aim for the same sort of set up as currently. I have not yet ridden more than 12 miles at any time, more usually 5-7 miles

Thanks guys

Edit - it's on and looks very cool as it matches the bike  I'll see how I go when I have a ride later
