Fitting 10 speed cassette onto a 11 speed freehub - spacer

Ok, this is probably a daft question, but i have a 10 speed cassette to install on a new wheel, with an 11 speed freehub.

I know i need 2.8mm of spacers which i have but..... where do they go? On the inside of the cassette (big sprocket) or on the outside (small sprocket).

They fit on before you fit the cassette

Think about it - it would not be possible to fit them on the outside.

Ha ha, yeah i fitted it, and of course, they wouldn't go on the outside!!

It is possible, because I did. I have since then moved it to the inboard but it worked okay just behind the lock ring.
