I've just changed my 20" tyres to Big Applews, (smooth.)
One is true, the other has a wiggle/asymmetry.
Suggestions as to how to true up would be welcomed!

Check that the steel bead isn't kinked first, straighten it by hand if necessary.

Talc the inside of the tyre generously and externally around the lower side wall and bead, also talc the tube.

Inflate to 20psi or so and spin the wheel, areas where the bead isn't seating can be manipulated out by hand.

If the above doesn't work try over-inflating until it pops in.

C'mon bonj, brand new tyre, clearly just needs proper bedding in. Washing up liquid (ergh) or talc round the tyre bead will do it.

Big Apples should be OK straight away. I've fitted new ons and refitted them to my trikes dozens of times with no problems.

I had a similar problem last year, was doing my head in. Someone on here suggested I put a lick of washing up liquid on the rim and inflate the tyre up as hard as I could. Left overnight and let down to the right pressure and bingo, it worked!

I've had tyres that would not fit symmetrically - either out of round or the tread over to one side. Tehre is a noticeable wobble/lump as the rtyre is spun but I cannot say I feel it when roiding.

no amount of poking/proddoing.reseating fixed it.

Dunno what the problem iis due to but since I cannot feel the effect whenm cyucling, I don;t worry abvout it.

I've had this problem with some rim/tyre combos. I generally find that it happens more with cheap rims or tyres that are slightly too large or loose fitting.

Some tyres fit perfect first time every time and others, well, just don't!

What I do is keep inflating and deflating it and moving it about until it finally fits properly and straight. A good tip can be to pump it up really hard.

It can do your head in big time and on the road side after a puncture it is very annoying indeed. Tyres like this don't last long in my house!!! I found Continental Gravity tyres particularly bad for this, and my Big Apples (2.3) also suffer from this problem although I'm stil using them - wouldn't buy again though.

Thanks for the suggestions people.
Tha tire is good for the rim.
I tried the dilute washing up liquid at the first attempt; tried more of it on subsequent attempts, and inflating up to 5 bars, (its rated maximum.)
The fit has improved a bit, but still not seated pertectly.
The tyre had been folded when new. I had left it on a flat surface for 2 weeks before fitting. I wonder if this is the cause?
It is on a QNT trike. The ride is not as smooth as it could be, and the reflective bead on the tyre is in my view much of the time.
Could live with it. Would be satisfying to sort it out perfectly.
