Just back from the Action Medical Research York 100 mile ride. My first organised event after 3 1/2 months cycling.
Enjoyed it although the headwind for the last 50 miles was rather nasty, did get to tag along with about 5 others for some of it which helped, but when I took a turn on the front they dropped back and I was on my own again!
At half way I realised that under 6 hours rolling time was possible for 100 miles so I kept my self going as much as possible, and did 100 miles in 5.57 which I'm chuffed with as there were a few hills and the wind. Total ride 102 miles, 6.06.
Next is Manchester 100 which i think is flatter, and I'll have some mates to ride with, as even though I rode with quite a few different people and had some good chats, I did spend about 40 miles on my tod with no one in sight.
Wife and daughter had a nice walk into York and did some shopping, just hope the legs recover, will have tomorrow off, then back on it on Tuesday.
