Hi

I've done over 200 miles now on my new(ish) bike. It's a Challenge Atlantic (don't laugh...). I know these BSO's have rubbish running gear etc, so I'm thinking it probably needs a good service now...

I've been doing basic stuff as I've gone along, like checking the brakes, oiling the chain, adjusting the gears etc, but not sure how to do the more complicated stuff, all the bearings greasing etc. Is it easy to do? Or am I better off just taking it to Halfords or a local bike shop for them to do it? How much would it cost?

Most reputable shops [I think, certainly Halfords and Evans where I bought my last two bikes] offer a free after sale checkup for new bikes after about 4-6 weeks. My Tricrosss is going into Evans this week after about 300/350 miles or so.
