I have been wanting to upgrade from a Giant MTB and move into road cycling, and, due to a post in another thread I have just ordered a giant Defy 1. Cycled up to 55 miles in one go on the MTB and feel that is the limit I can go on it so it will now be my commuter. My goal is to hit the 100 mile mark by the end of the year. Excited to say the least. Got it in blue and it looks very good.

Schoolboy error. The black ones are faster!

Welcome to the club. You will not be disappointed with that choice!

Would like to hear what you think of it when it arrives, looks so much better in the flesh, blue was definitely the right choice

I kept changing my mind over the colour, I always go for black and time for a change. Just got to decided on pedals now, never had clip less so another learning curve beckons.

I like the blue ones too ^_^

Had I not had as good of a deal on the composite I would have ended up with the same bike.

My last bike was a mtb. If you can do 55 miles on that you're not to far off there I would have thought for 100 miles on a road bike. Road bikes eat up the road much easier. The biggest difference is the ability to sustain a good average speed on flat or slightly climbing type of roads. Takes way less out of your legs from what I can remember!

I rode with the standard clips and straps for a while, then decided I would just go for it. Got some M520 SPD pedals and some MTB shoes.

Got on really well with them at first, then two weeks later, just as I was getting really confident... BANG! Clipless fall right outside my front gate

The second fall was when I unclipped the left foot, then fell over to the right

Newest bike has A530's on it for the best of both worlds. but the best bike has Look Keo's on it
