Hi all,

In the quest for my first road bike I have been offered a 2010 Specialized Allez Sport for £300. It has a few minor scrapes through wear and tear (shifter caps, cranks) but other than that looks in pretty good nick (saw a number of photo's) and has a brand new chain and recently serviced.

Being new to cycling, does this represent good value for money and is it an appropriate bike for a newbie?

Thanks,
Chris

Should be dine. Otherwise brand spanking new Triban 3 from Decathlon IF you can find one anywhere

The absolutely most important thing is that it's the right size for you (especially not too big) - what size is it, how tall are you and inside leg?

Happy riding

Looking at the specs courtesy of Evans, both the double and triple 2010 allez sport had Sora - is the level up from the 2300 on the Triban but one is new

Welcome mate like people say make sure it fits have a ride on it if you can if there are certain things you dont like take in to account what it will cost you to replace or upgrade them to your personal spec or weigh it up against what a new bike would cost. After all you gotta be happy and comfy or those miles on the tarmac will be painfull and unenjoyable.
