I've just been for my fist ride on my new bike a Giant Defy 1 which I picked up on Saturday and my pedal/shoes arrived today from wiggle.

I'm just getting the hang of my first pair of SPD SL pedals/shoes although after pushing off up hill I do struggle to clip in my other foot in time before I lose momentum.

All in all it was a good little ride now I just need to build up my mileage and find some good routes around Maidstone.

From Maidstone? Then the whole of Kent is your cycling oyster. Head for Bearstead and the Pilgrims Way and fill yer boots.

Berties

Fast and careful!
Nice bike, enjoy it ,try and give the pedal a extra spin before clipping in as you say yo need a bit more momentum ,may be loosen the housing on pedal especially while learning

Yes I live in Maidstone. When I use to ride out regularly I use to head towards yalding, horsmonden , headcorn etc I just need a few shorter rides to get me back into it.
