Well I didn't kill myself, which is a start, and not too bad with a torn knee ligament.

Just a quick 1.5 miles to the local Tescos and back for some lubrication for New Years Eve

Already decided new pedals are in order...methinks this might get expensive after a while!

He he, and if you enjoy cycling to buy booze from Tescos so much it is going to become even more expensive.

Hehe, that could be my next upgrade... although i dread to think how many miles worth a pint of beer is, let alone a trailer full.

I read somewhere that 40 calories = a mile on the flat doing about 11mph, so work it out from that ;)

As long as I breathe, I attack.
pint of beer is around 200 calories, so 5 miles per pint ^_^

Cycling is not expensive, its a way of life !!

I justify it by not wasting money on things i do not need and the wife sees i am a much happier and healthier person for it so everyone wins.
If you shop around you can get some good kit fairly cheap , sign up for lidl + aldi email newsletters as their kit is very good value but when its gone its gone ,tenn outdoors is very good as well.

Decathlon has very good kit + parts+ bikes at very good prices if you have one localy.

Plenty of other online retailers including planet x and absoulte cycles that are good value.

Thanks for the link there CyberKnight. Some waterproof gear is fairly high on my list, along with some better tyres and some mudguards, as I caught myself feeling hard done by because I couldn't get out tonight.

I was jokingly referring to my tendency to impulse buy and to have eyes bigger than my wallet when I mentioned expense, but you are right about prioritising and cutting out trivial stuff...
