Wozza

Regular
After leading a charmed life this summer and enjoying taking up road biking again I had a huge reality check yesterday with a crash on wet leaf strewn roads. Nasty tarmac burns, sprained wrists and thankfully not to much damage to the bike!
Managed to get straight back on and finish the Brickhill Sportive.
Anyone else as daft as me?

Barnet,
Many! Glad to hear that you were not badly hurt though Wozza.

Unfortunately there are many of us, glad you are not seriously hurt but be careful pain can take a day or two to manifest. I got caught out on a club run a few months back  clipped wheels and bounced on the tarmac at 25mph ish. I thought I'd done my collar bone at first but it was just severe bruising to the ribs and I didn't really think about my elbow which I'd opened up pretty baddly. Anyhow I got back on the bike, all that was wrong was a slight buckle so I eased of the brake and continued the last 40 odd miles of the run, and apart from the blood dripping from the elbow (which looked worse than it felt) I didn't feel too bad. A couple of days later though the pain really set in.

im a little tea pot
i hit a patch of oil on a corner back in June on my way to work! 20 mph and the bike slid out from under me!

i fractured my left wrist, dislocated 2 fingers and fractured one on my right hand and had a nasty gash on my eyelid due to the glasses i was wearing! luckily no cars around so when i slid into the road i just picked up the bike, rode it 2 miles home then hopped in the car and drove to hospital! was great fun but never again!!! lol. wrist is still not 100% now and i still have a small egg growing on my right middle knuckle!
