Took my first hit today!!. I was a quarter of a mile from the top of Holme Moss, crawling along (I was knackered), when a white van walloped me on my right arm with his wing mirror!. How I didn't fall off I'll never know. Did he stop?, did he heck. Carried on his merry way. There's no way he can't have not known he'd hit me 'cos it made a right bang. Oh well, no harm done, no injuries or anything, just gave me the fright of my life  .

Sorry to hear that, but glad you didn't come a cropper!

It's always difficult to react in time, but, if you can, try and get their reg. no. and make a report to the police. They might have 'previous'!

I was too busy trying not to go head first over the crash barrier and down a bloody great drop  . It makes me appreciate when people don't get the reg. Trust me if I'd have got the reg. he'd know about it. I'm a bobby   .!!

Glad your ok & the bike too.
In your line of work can't you borrow a mini camera for your commute - all in the line of crime fighting!

When you're cycling along do you get catcalls of "oi copper, etc"? My partner does as he cycles to work, the irony is he isn't a police officer although he does work for the Prison Service.

I live just outside Holmfirth on the way out to Holme Moss, the quality of driving around this area has a lot to be desired. I cannot count how many times I've had a near miss or an incident as this myself.

Until your post, I had a suspicion that it was some of the blue rinse brigade not seeing me, passing more than comfortably close, but now I'm more concerned, and going to be more alert.

Watch for the traffic trying to beat you when coming out of the road just past Holmfirth Mills on the left hand side on your way out of Holmfirth, I've had many a screaming match with car drivers trying to beat me, and once just about went over the bonnet of a car, not nice when less than half a mile from home.
