Saturday morning it was overcast and slightly blustery, however met up with Calibanzwei at around 8:15 and we set off on our little trek
our route took us down into the heart of cheshire and looping around jodrel bank, then finally up towards warburton and back home to warrington.

Main route here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/631582

couple of stops for edibles, bassets licorice all sorts should be legally required on all bike rides btw, greatest ever cycle snack food.

anyhoo quick stop at jodrell bank but the dish was facing away from us so we didn't get very good shots, then route back up into dunham massey and a stop at a cafe for lunch.
suprised myself tbh, when i got in my cycle comp read 55 miles, that's a personal best and my first half century!
my next goal is 80m
then i'll go for the big 100

Why not go for a metric century before you tackle 80 miles? 100 km = 62.2 miles which is a nice easy step up from that 55 mile ride you've just done.

Metric? sir I've just dropped my monocle in disgust!

I did think about doing 60 or so as my next goal but a ride to southport and back beckons, this should be just about 80 miles total.
refuel with hot doughnuts and fresh fish at lunch and i reckon its doable.

despite it being overcast all morning on sat, and getting the lightest of spits of rain at jodrell i actually considered it to be brilliant cycling weather, it was warm without being too hot and the wind was great for cooling you down.
can't wait to do my next run

I did two rides last week that were just short of a half century: it's amazing how easily and quickly you get used to the longer distances. Going up Cheddar Gorge next weekend then Glastonbury and back the following Saturday for my first metric century
