With the aim of going out and seeing how things progressed my son and I did our first half century today! Route could have been better planned as we tackled Oxton hill (if anyone knows it)after thirty five miles and it burned.
Nothing left in the legs. Reward is fish and chips and half a bottle of red!
At the moment the thought of a full hundred is just crazy but then again a few weeks ago fifty was unimaginable so who knows.
TDF on sky + now....

Just got on from a rain soaked first metric century! Didn't intend to but at the planned forty mile I felt great and decided I fancied a ride through Nottingham! Strangely enjoyed the experience of city riding.
I never thought I'd be capable of twenty miles never mind sixty.
Just feel a little sad that I gave up cycling when I left school and waited thirty years to rediscover it!
Need food....

Well done!

If the forecasters are right about the Jet Stream heading north and a proper summer turning up, you might even get your imperial century in before autumn!

Perhaps it will go so far north that Scotland doesn't suffer?

Somebody was saying on my forum ride on Sunday that it always rains in Scotland. I begged to differ ...

My mum came from near Oban so we used to spend all our summers up there when I was a child. I remember one glorious summer when the sun shone every day for 6 weeks and I practically lived on the beach. :sun:

We went back with high hopes the next year and it poured down every day for the whole 6 weeks! :rain:
