Argh, lucky it wasn't worse. Took a left turn too late, let a few other riders through, unclipped and locked my rear shoe into the chain stay. Felt a right tit. Over I went.

Anyhow, the shifter got 'shifted' over and I'm wondering, despite putting it back into its original place whether there is anything to tighten it up with to the handlebars, so it's likely not to move again? It's a SRAM Rival. Can't find the Allen/torx screw if there is one..?

Also, the shifting mechanism seemed to be working okay after a while but to begin with the gears were skipping when I put any power down - miles from home it would be a bit of a problem. Gradually however, it seemed to be okay and I am presuming, though not sure, that the extra distance of a cm or so from where it was bent further towards the right (it was the left shifter) may have caused or contributed to the skipping being that the tension would have been temporarily mucked up? Is this likely, or is it likely to have been something else and what? The cage wasn't damaged.

Also, what spoke key do I use for Ksyrium Elites. The spoke nipples are way too big for standard spoke keys so I am presuming they need something that does its job inside the rim on top? They are 2011. I really don't know how I ended up with a couple of cms knocked out as a result of this impact, being largely side on...?

As always thanks for any feedback.

Can't help with the Shifter - but can offer some sympathy (we've all done similar!) and a link to the spoke key

Ouch Sorry to hear that Monsieur. With shimano and Campag hoods if you pull back the rubber hood it reveals a allen key bolt which determines how tight they are, that can be loosened to straighten the levers and retightened again, I suspect SRAM may be the same. If thats what you mean by the shifter got shifted.
Poor shifting could be a result of the gear hanger becoming bent, if so it'll want replaced long term you may be able to straighten it short term.
I've no idea about what spoke key the Ksyrium's need though, so far when I've took one of those cheap multi slot keys (or whatever they are called) they've always had a slot the right size.

Thanks folks, much appreciated responses. Yep, not sure the mech was touched at all Hlab but the mech hanger is a bit bent and has been for a while. The good thing is it seemed to sort itself out which lead me to believe that something had to have changed for it to change its behaviour - the only thing I changed was to straighten the shifter again.

Pete, that looks as if it can be used directly on the spoke as with any other spoke key? I thought that some had to be tackled from inside the rim? I'd prefer it this way bieng a trueing newbie...

And Biggs, that's good to hear mate.
