Well sat here with a mild concussion and some gravel rash after my first cycle off
Totally my fault and failed to see a car that was obscured by a large sharp deviation sign, saw it late, hit the brakes, loose gravel on the junction and you can guess the rest.
Probably doing around 20 mph at the time as the road was downhill and I was putting the power down into the junction to get a good run into an upcoming incline. The front washed out and dumped me in the middle of the road. Massive blow to the head but thank god for cycle helmets.
Jacket, bib tights and helmet all trashed but thankfully my bike is relatively unscathed with scuffed bar ends that are easily replaced and a small scratch of the top tube
Has some brilliant help from passing motorists and another cyclist who stopped to lend a hand and who kept me from getting up until the paramedics had checked me over, police were great too sorting out transporting me and my bike back home and helping me with it.
A lesson learned and another lucky escape
