Its my first post, so don't shot the messenger.

I was deliberately push of my bike (assaulted) twelve weeks ago and manage to get published in cycling weekly. Landed on my left shoulder and endured the new sport of pavement surfing with road bike still attached.

This cause decalcification of the shoulder joint (three large lumps) and several muscle tears, I was stupid and carried onto work, but as the home commute got nearer the pain started, by the time I got home cycling with one hand was the only option.

Well what a day to start again with the physio's permission, straight into a headwind gusts up to 35mph, 12.5 miles later from Swanley to Greenwich with an average of 13.9 mph. (crap)

It had just stopped raining at about 4.30pm and time for the ride home, but I was unaware that the A2 was closed and every road on my route home was bumper to bumper traffic, then it started raining again. My only intention now was to get home safely and I crawled home at about 9mph with several near misses due the frustration of block roads and having to stop as nearly every car wanted to execute a U turn.

Again into a head wind. Average 11.5mph wet, cold but glade to be back in the saddle.

Welcome back. Sounds like you had a nasty experience, makes the weather sound pleasant.;)

Well 4 days later and 96 miles under my belt, the 20 pounds of excessive drinking, Christmas goodies and sitting on my ar*e recovering, the weight is starting to come off. 3lbs so far.

After researching some stuff about recovery drinks and just started taking them, they really do make a difference and I feel refreshes each day and no so heavy legged.

I'm so glad to be back and once I loss the weight, I’ll hopefully be flying along again.

Which one/s are you using? Chocolate milkshake gets many glowing recommendations on here - even Fab Foodie (he's a foodie and fab ) swears by them. I think the Frijj and Yazoo ones are low fat.

I have three different types, wanted to experiment, the chocolate stuff makes be heave, but I found the lucazade sport recovery power work best and my stomach didn't have much trouble with it.

But all three make me slightly windy, but no worse than the sunday roast dinner.
