First century!

Longest ride before today was 65 miles although that was the Keswick Sportive with over 3000m of climbing. Broke though the century barrier with 107 miles at the Northern Rock Cyclone in Newcastle.

I was expecting to hit the wall with every mile into unknown territory, but i kept the pace steady and ate and drank loads and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Feels great to finally join the century club.

Well done! I did the Cotswold outing Audax last weekend, with riding to and from the HQ clocked 119 miles, my biggest mileage for a very long time.

The Audax I did was the half distance one, about 67 miles, but I did 50 miles getting to and from the event, plus a couple of miles extra on the event due to a navigational whoops. Like you I was trying to ride easy and make sure I finished, but it was damned difficult to stick to the plan when the fast boys came past just after the start.

Trouble is, it becomes addictive. I did a 90 mile run the other day and felt that I just hadn't tried hard enough.
