Managed 5 miles today:biggrin:, i know it's a rather pathetic distance but it was up nearly a 100% hill (Honestly:smile:) and i was knackered.

The plan is to do this route every morning and slowly increase it.

I was planning to do 25 miles at the weekend but i don't think i'd survivexx(

Well, there's only one way to find out whether you can do 25 miles.......

That's to cycle 12.5 miles away from home in a straight line.

Congratulations on doing that first 5 miles though. You know what the Chinese say - 'A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step'.

Well done, 5 miles is a start, i remeber doing 6 on my first ride from bringing the bike home from the shop, and it was a killer if i'm honest. This was in february, and now a ride is anywhere from 16-30 miles. Not the biggest distances in the world, but slowly increasing my fitness and strength, but crucially, still enjoying it..

Your at the same point I am, I'm cycling 4 - 8 miles in the morning each day at the moment. I thought I'd be able to do more straight away but that came round and slapped me in the face.

Good job on the 5 miles.

well done and congrats for your first 5 miles.

and as for the 25 miles you can proberlby do that no problem take your time and poddle along.

This is how I look at it, if someone said ride 25 miles now and ill give you 1 million quid could you do? Of course you could.

not sure if that is as clear as mud but after 6 months of cycling i learnt its more in the head then in the legs if you can do it

Well done.
Keep it going mate, it will get easier and easier... honestly.
And before you know it 25 miles will be a doddle.

100%
i've been at the point where i'm 14 miles from home, the only way to get their is cycle, and my legs are already dead. you just gotta keep thinking. 'get to the next corner, and then the next corner.'

Good stuff Nick. Well done. You did more than I did on my first run (last week -- 3.6m and I thought I was going to have a lung collapse ;) ). I'm up to 19m as of today and if I can do it with my shoddy fitness level.....anyone can.
