there was i yesterday morning looking out the window. the sun was shining and the weather forcast said not windy around 5mph. so, after doing a 25 miler last weekend, said to myself good day for 30. so shorts on tee shirt water bottles filled. off i went. 10 miles in was the first gust of wind. blew me across the road. then turned in the wind and went from 18mph to 8. oh well i thought is only a mile or so till i change direction again. Ha, blooming wind changed direction every time i did. But, i did it did my first 30 miles in 2 hours 15 minutes. not a mega distance to some on here. but to finish what i set out to do made me smile for the rest of the day.

Good one, i managed my first 40 miler today after passing 30 last weekend. I also found it far more windy than the forecast suggested. I stopped several times as I kept getting lost in a maze of country lanes so averaged only 14.1mph but still chuffed that I did it. Next target is a 50, probably not for a couple of weeks as don't want to rush it.

Good job lad, well done. 35's my max so far but would love to try and build up to a ton this summer. I find that I need to ride regularly to get the old joints and muscles ready for stuff over twenty, and as we've had the windyest, wetest spring for years, i think i'm lucky if i've managed twenty in the last two months !!! so got a loooonnnng way to go to get anywhere near that. Still, i've done a 15 today so thats a start. May the summer be long and dry.

Sounds a bit odd but the only person you need to measure yourself against is you! If 2 miles is a good distance for you great, well done! There'll always be someone on here that can pedal further than you but there'll also be loads that can't!
Well done with the new PB mate

Well done all the PBs on here

I went out with the intension of topping mine, but about 3/4 of the way round I was so knackered that I decided to call it short. It was very gusty and I don't think I rested properly from last weekends PB.
