hi everybody

just thought i'd come on tell you about my first 20 mile cycle.

did it with a cycle buddy, i know it's not a lot but it was for me. had a killer hill which i fought to get up, it gave me a killer stitch half way up.

hardest hill i ever did, realized at the top i was in the big ring at the front... doh. hadn't changed from the previous decent which ran into the rather large hill.

i want to do more now.. going back out in the morning, hopefully for the same again.. i wonder would i need to recover more first,?? although my legs are not sore..

when i look back on the ride it's funny how the pain becomes pleasure...

that is all.

Congratulations on doing your first 20 miles. It's probably best to have a rest day now rather than go out and push yourself another 20 miles.

Congrats! The first time I did over 20 (I think I did around 28miles) it nearly killed me, and honestly it still does when I cycle over 20. But it's was a pretty big mile stone for me, now I go out most weekends covering anywhere from 15-30 miles a time. And to think, 6 months ago I was struggling with 5 miles..... I now cover 10 a day with ease

Well done! Every time I hit I new milestone, I find myself subconsciously readjusting my definitions of long and short rides. The bastard hills never get any less steep, though. Just slightly easier to get up!

Nice one!! A year ago i was in your position and 20 miles seemed like a long way. I was in training for a 30 mile ride last October and seriously wondered if I'd do it or not.

This year, a 20 mile ride falls into 'piece of piss' category.....

Stick with it, and what once seemed like a long ride will soon be something you can do easily and you'll be signing up for 65 milers across Dartmoor......
