In preparation for the London 2 Brighton I've foolishly agreed to ride..first proper days cycling and 20 miles under the belt.
Had more in the tank but going to build up gradually..Was a wet morning as well so much harder.
1 hour 40 mins averaged 12.2 mph so very pleased.

I believe 20 miles is a turning point. Once you get a few 20's under your belt further improvement seems much easier. Give it a few weeks and you will be doing 20's on days you want to take it easy.

+1 on this. A few months ago I did my first 20, now it's a quick trip around the block after work.

Anyway, respect to the OP. I am only a few miles from him and I looked out at the rain and said stuff the bike.
