i did my first 20 miler today and my previous longest is 11.79 miles.

it was a lovely ride and found a couple of roads that barely had a car on them, so peaceful.

my legs ache a little tonight, might not be able to move tomorrow but we will see.

the route and details in the link of my signature.

Well done :bravo:

keep at it dude, before you know you'll be hitting up 100m + rides.

My first ride was a massive 2 miles and i was pooped afterwards lol

Well done! When I first started I was doing an 8 mile route that left me absolutely shattered. After a few weeks this was a lot easier but I had a kind of mental block about going further. Guess I was worried about getting a puncture or breaking down and being too far away from home! I slowly upped the miles and now look back and wonder why it all seemed so hard! Soon you'll be doing your first 50 :-)

Well done!

Once your out and about and enjoying it you'll find the extra 5 or 10 miles seems not much harder than your first 10.

Only thing stops me going too far is having the time and of course my knees start to complain !

Well done. 20 miles is a nice distance, and your legs will be fine. I find if they ache on the day, they recover pretty quickly. It's when they don't start aching until the next day that they take a while to recover.

Well done, our best is 17 so 20 is something we are aspiring too in the very near future.

Good for you, I bet you feel really chuffed with it too and quite rightly.

it was a good feeling beating my previous record and by some margin aswell, took it at slow moving pace avg 11.6mph.

i think the next time i do it i will need to take something to give me some energy as i could of done with it after about the 14 mile stage.

i am not able to take energy drinks like lucozade sport because it makes me feel sick, so some energy food like a flapjack or something should be ok.

weird thing is that lucozade sport i can drink after exercise and it doesn't bother me, it is just while exercising it makes me feel sick.

just like to say thank you for all the support here.

bev and saluki you will get there very soon.

ps my legs feel fine today.

I'm actually the opposite, water doesn't sit right on my stomach when cycling, yet its ok when i stop, whilst cycling i drop a rehydration tab in and i'm happily drinking away.
go figure *shrug*
