Fireworks!

When I went out on Thursday night, I had my first run in with a firework. I was nearing the end of my ride and shoulder checked just before a pinch point. Noone was coming but a firework popped loudly right beside me. I looked in shock as it made me jump.

I was wondering if you dont allow fireworks to mess up your ride, or prefer to stay in at this time of year? I am going to be going out now but the local park/amusement area is having a spooktacular tonight and fireworks start at 9pm so will not be out for long.

Fireworks going off in their intended direction (vertical) does not bother me

fireworks being used as ballistics (horizontal) do, however i've never had one at me while cycling, only when I was at school, a group of 5th years were firing them across the yard, learnt to stay near the buildings around bonfire night after that, had I not stopped running when I did, it would have hit me and then explode instead of whistling past.

The only good fireworks are organised ones. I hate private fireworks. They should be banned as they are so dangerous. Every year people get hurt because of that.

Oh I so would ban the private fireworks and the sale in every shop going. There are millions of animals that we share the place with, and they don't get a choice, just continually being frightened stupid for about three weeks. Then add fireworks at these private wedding receptions, birthdays, and so on and on and on, it gets utterly stupid.

And with the alleged lack of funds it won't make any difference whatsoever; there will still be millions let of. Ask young kids WHY and they will give you an array of answers; seldom ever about that twat Fawkes. Yet again another commodity aimed at taking YOUR money for what return?
