guys I have used finishline cross country wet lube for years, and find that it lasts quite well, by puting a drop on each chain link then wiping the excess off, however it is messy and you need to wipe the chain excessively when coming in from a ride out..But recently I purchased dry lube, and find it a lot cleaner but it comes out the bottle like water and found that to put a drop on each chin link it used quite a lot.So I put some in a small cup and painted it on the chin with a small paint brush,so it might go a bit further.I was basically wondering how other people use this lube or do they buy the dry lube in a spray can.

i just do a drop per link. doesnt last well in the rain but a 2 oz bottle has lasted for over a month with still a fair bit left! just remember to shake the bottle up before hand as well

or you could just not use any at all - which means your bottle will last indefinitely. Seriously, it's a chain lube - if you want to lube your chain correctly, just use it. If you're not happy with the 'cost per drop' then buy something cheaper. I doubt if putting it on with a paint brush is doing anything other than lubing the outer plates, which is pretty pointless and - ironically - more wasteful than using the correct method.

Finish Line changed the Dry Lube formula last year I think, I agree the new stuff falls out like water and ends up splashing everywhere.

Have you tried putting it in the fridge and then applying it cold? I found it stiffens the mix up and it is easier to then drop neatly on the chain.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Use a hypodermic, or a luber. (As it comes filled with Prolink you might as well try that too ). Always lube the inside of the chain too.

Dry stuff needs a good shake. It doesn't last as long as the wet stuff in use, but it's much less messy and doesn't fling. I use this on the fixed now. Yes needs lubing again after a wet ride.

I use Finish Line Dry, and reapply every week. A medium sized drop per link seems to do the trick, and my 2oz bottle has lasted a month so far, with still at least 2/3rds of it left - Probably more.

I personally don't think that "painting" the lube on will be as good, as the thinly applied layer won't have as much penetrating power to get down into the innards of the chain as a blob does. Remember it's the insides of the chain you want to lubricate - not the outsides!

it's no different to using it in winter which is how I found out that it gets much thicker in the cold :-)

Once it warms up then it will trickle in to the rollers.

dry lube is not ideal for winter, as it tends not to 'warm up' much at that time of the year....and it wouldn't last long in the wet anyway...
