You'll just have to pedal faster so people can't get a closer look, so it's helping you train - you should be thankful.
Of course riding faster will probably mean more chips from the gravel on the roads, thus meaning you'll have to go even faster... it's a vicious cycle (pun intended)!!
Just like washing the car - if you clean it often you know every mark and can tell when new ones arrive. If you didn't look after it so well you wouldn't notice but I prefer a clean bike and car. Guess actually it's like the housework too - marks on walls/carpets etc.
There's a big difference between the honourable scars and wear from hard use and the results of abuse and neglect. Keep the frame wax polished and rust won't be a problem.
