Amazing the amount of ex-pro's who develop cancer in later life! Anquetil, Nencini and Armstrong to name those who spring immediately to mind.
Hope Fignon recovers as he was amongst the more intelligent riders of his generation and still has a lot to contribute.
Seems like Fignon has been around forever and he looks like it too. I was surprised to learn he's only a few years older than me. Kinda brings the cancer thing home a bit that does. Hope he responds to the treatment and his book will deffo be on my list.
I hope he recovers too. He pushed him self way over the limit in 89 in that epic duel with Lemond and was a great inpiration with his rugged style. A lot of riders of that generation have suffered health problems such as heart attacks and mental problems. Many retired sportsmen suffer health problems in later life and its not just cyclists.
Looking forward to the final stage of the Dauphine Libre this afternoon. Going to be a close finish and hope Cadel Evans pulls it off.
