Here for rides.
Just done a job I have put off for two years. Stripping the components of a crash damaged frame which once belonged to a dear, and much missed, cycling buddy, who died out on the bike that replaced this one.

His widow asked me to keep at the components to build, one day, into a complete bike for their teenage son.

I must be going soft in late middle age. He wasn't a fettler and whenever I worked on his bikes he'd be peering over my shoulder or looking at my tools. I swear he was there this morning.

He was.

Good work.

It is nice that his legacy will live on and that you have been able to enable this.

Just one thing.... will the son be happy riding something that is a daily reminder of the loss?

Grief and remembrance affect individuals differently, and whilst it is a lovely gesture, it might be worth a quick chat

Chin up. We've all lost someone close to us in one way or another, by just remembering them in our hearts it means they are never really gone. That wouldnt stop my heart breaking every time though.
