I was trying to remove my pedals once and slipped causing my hand to slide across the large chainring very quickly. Didn't feel anything at first, but then the pain slowly got worse as the air hit it. Then I saw a pool of blood froming on the floor. Not quite bad enough for stitches, but it was a close call.

I now always put the chain on the large chainring when doing work like this to prevent any "accidents". It'll still hurt if you hit the chainring, but at least with the chain there you aren't going to slice your hand open like a knife through butter.

I had to have two stitches in my finger 6 weeks ago doing the same thing. Got a nice big scar there now instead. Hurt like hell as the teeth on the big ring were touching the bone...

The chain ring isnt the only danger when removing pedals. Not that long ago I managed to stubb my index finger fingernail onto a drinks bottle cage bolt while doing the same job, I ended up losing the nail.

Now that your bike has tasted blood, it will want more. You will find yourself wondering the dark and lonely roads at night looking for a victims to satisfy it's blood lust. First it will be hedgehogs then foxes then milkmen. You have to stop this madness. My advice is to take it into a church and dunk it into a fountain of holy water.

Listen very carefully.

Put your pedal spanner onto the spanner flats so that it sits above the crankarm, but close enough so you can grip the crank and the spanner at the same time with one hand. Now squeeze the two together.

just me being lazy and not doing it properly.
all my own fault but sympathy would be appreciated
Went out on the dark roads this morning for the first time and it behaved - no sign of werebikeness in the slightest
