Felt Z95 or something else

Question for my Dad as he is looking to move from his hybrid to a roadie. He's looking at the Felt Z95 from wiggle at £434

Wondered if there would be anything else you guys would recomend? How does the Triban 500 stack up against it?

Any other bikes around this price range?

He's a regular rider doing around 30 mile routes a few times a week.

Cheers

Another 60 notes gets him the Z85. I adore mine.

Are you sure it's not the F85 that is £60 more? Z85 has 105 and is about £160 more than the Z95 for prior year models.

There is a difference in geometry between the 'Z' and 'F' versions, the 'Z' being more relaxed.

:thumbsup:I have a Felt, ladies bike.
Set out to buy the Cannondale but none in stock, Felt was the only bike that fitted on the day, so glad it did, super wee bike, only downside was the brake blocks, easily replaced.

I have a Felt Z85, my first road bike, done 2500 miles on it and it's great. Brake blocks appear to be their weak point, especially when it comes to hills or wet weather.

Point of Order - brake blokes seem a really weird thing for a bike manufacture to get wrong. Not the most expensive component and yet, you could argue, the most important!

I don't have a problem with the brakes on my F85 and I'm a very heavy individual. They're certainly better than the Tiagra calipers and blocks on my other roadie. That said, Felt are a Californian company and their climate is more benign, and my Felt is a fair weather toy.

I have just got one of these (Z95) myself after a few years using a MTB for commuting and "training" rides at the weekend. Got to say that once I had got used to the change of position and that the brake levers were NOT on the tops I absolutely love it!!! I replaced the to soft stock saddle with a Prologo Kappa evo and got a pair of Schwalbe Ultremo Zx's which I plan to put on a set of Fulcrum racing 7's when I get them in the spring....Other than that I plan to keep it pretty much as it is until the Sora parts start to wear out by which time I should have squirrelled away (without Mrs L's knowledge) enough to go 105....Maybe.... ;O)
