Hi all

Can anyone out there please help me. I am trying to compare the Felt z100 and the Giant Defy 3 regarding their suitability as long-distance / sportive bikes.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Slightly biased opinion (I have a Defy 2), but the Defy has slightly easier bottom gearing for hills and also mudguard mounting points (for specific Defy guards) which would put it slightly ahead imho.

I have done a couple of 100 milers on my Defy and although the seat hurts after 60+ miles, the frame and seating position are very comfortable over any distance...for me.

If huge hills aren't an issue in your area, then they would appear much the saem on paper - give them a try, one will 'fit' better than the other.

Agree with 2Loose. I've also got a a Defy 2 and it's a very comfortable ride. Not only that, the bike really responds when you put the power in it.

Another vote for the Giant - I've got a Defy 3 [1] that I put a couple of thousand kms on last year, with a few sportives around the 150km mark. It's comfy, smooth, and boringly reliable. Agree with the previous poster about the seat though. I replaced mine with a Fizik Arione, and never looked back.

[1] For sale, just incase you want one of last years models. Just noticed where you're from though, and it's not exactly convenient to pop round and have a look
