Feeling the pinch!

Just had the third pinch puncture in two days! Thought it was down to under inflated tyres so made sure both were between 100-110 psi but just got another...aggghhh! The wheels I've used for a while and never had a problem. Just put on some new Michelin Lithion 2 tyres on both wheels and Lifeline Essential Narrow inner tubes 18-23c. I've used Lithion 2s before without a problem so am thinking it must be the tubes...

Any thoughts/advice would be welcome...

Thanks in advance,

Russ

Thanks but they keep happening in the same (ish) place on the tyre...it's about 1/4 of the way round the tyre from 12 o'clock (if that makes sense). That's why I feel it might be a pinch puncture...I've also ran these wheels before with the same rim tape and never a problem - also had punctures front and back.

Rim tape can ware out and start to move around causing a pinch the velo stuff is sticky and holds position really well and it's only a couple of quid a roll

Thanks for the advice...should have said, I only recently changed the rim tape on the front wheel so think that's ok.

Now thinking it could be that the tubes have perished. The ones fitted were the spares that were in my saddle bag over the winter. I don't wrap them in anything etc and lack of mudguards means that they bag gets a good soaking if raining. Is this possible?

Unlikely. The puncture happening in the same place is a pointer to an issue with either the tyre or the rim tape. Check the tyre very carefully - is it a wire beaded one? I've had a tyre where a frond from the bead had escaped to cause havoc with the tube. What makes you think they're pinch punctures? Presumably you get a pair of holes?

Thanks Tim, I'll check it over more carefully. I guess I was thinking that it might not be the wheel as it happened both front and back within the first three rides of using the new frame. I've used the wheels for ages on another bike without any problems then put them on this frame with new tyres and the tubes that I had in the saddle bag.
