Now that the weather's getting warmer, my usual Mars bar is starting to melt in my jersey pocket.

What do others carry to snack on mid-ride?

Cereal bar or homemade flapjacks, If it's a long one I'll take a couple of emergency gels too.

Don't get any of the Powerbar energy bars (like the one I tried today). They're like eating chewing gum and didn't quite agree with my tummy xx(

No wonder the LBS were giving the last ones away.

I'm too lazy to make my own flapjacks, so I eat commercial energy bars. Clif Bars and MuleBars are my favourites. Can be bought in volume online to make the cost more reasonable.

Bananas are, of course, also essential.

Get yersen down to Tesco and buy their economy flapjacks, dirt cheap and very nice to boot.

I'll try to remember to look for them the next time I brave a trip to the local megaTesco.

How far/long are you riding? I'm sure most could manage quite easily without on-board food.
This for me too. I used to worry about making sure I had something with me just in case. Now I don't bother - I rarely ride for more than three hours without a stop these days anyway, so regular food before I start (think toast and Wilkins Orange and Whisky marmalade), and regular food at the stop (think sandwich or Full English). Mind you, I do carry plenty of energy reserves in the form of body fat these days which probably helps. To be honest, I'm nor sure how that happened, although it might have something to do with all the Full English's I eat on bike rides. And maybe the cakes. And pies.....
