As I sit here entertaining my 4month old with a cartoon cycling movie (called Belleville Rendez-Vous) I was thinking how much I enjoy it and will put it on if I fancy just chilling out. Now I know at (almost) 40 this movie may be a little 'young' for me it made me think of other cycling movies I had seen and quite liked. Apart from this film (and it came free with a Sunday Times a couple of years ago), a movie called Quicksilver (starring Kevin Bacon.....yes him from Footloose) came to mind. From a documentary view I haven't seen many but Overcoming isn't bad.
Does anyone have any others they would recommend?

In no way is Belleville Rendez-Vous too young for 40. It is a classic that I enjoy at nearly 50.

When the 4 month old is a bit older, and can appreciate gentle slapstick, try Jacques Tati in Jour de Fete.

It's nominally in French, but it's mostly dialogue free, and pretty much all visual comedy, lots of it on a bicycle.

And I agree that Belleville is a great film - so much detail, so well drawn. I've seen it countless times.

Le Vélo de Ghislain Lambert

Sometimes hilarious , often poignant tale of pro racing in the 70's. Well worth watching even if you don't speak French.
