Not me but my uncle , 9 months after his treatment finished he just managed to walk up his favourite hill last week , 600ft of climbing , before his treatment he was regularly doing Munros( 3000ft plus) so not back to full fitness yet , his treatment was R-CHOP and he is 67 .

One of my club mates has had treatment. Took him some time, but he is back on the bike now (and takes every opportunity to hire one when they go away).

Good luck.

I am imaging as opposed to therapy based

However if you ask there will be a lot of support from your oncology centre

This will vary from a "buddy system" where a volunteer who has been through the system and shares their experiences to McMillan Nurses who can offer professional advice

I think the best advice is do not be shy, modest or assume that you are on your own or the first person that has asked these questions....because you are not

As in the famous quote

Ask and thou shalt receive

Oh shoot. Not what I wanted to hear. I am 61 and also had R-CHOP. 6 sessions of that and then 15 radiotherapy. Finished that 5 weeks ago and walking most days now for at least an hour, sometimes 2, but three days of that in a row leaves me very tired. Going to try the turbo this weekend. Might be trying too much too soon but getting impatient already.
Thanks for all the best wishes.

I see my consultant on Monday afternoon so can ask then.

Has anyone on here had cancer treatment? If so I have questions relating to fatigue after treatment. Thanks.

I've had 13 Cycles of Chemotherapy and 2 bone marrow transplants, obviously the second being successful, and I've just returned to work after 3 years but recovering the last year. I was back on the bike last summer and doing well, but have become more a fair weather cyclist.

Ask me anything.

David.

I don't have experience of chemo- or radio- therapy but I've got chronic kidney disease and, with the meds I have to take, walking drives me mad. I can still have a reasonable turbo session though and it doesn't leave me with the drained feeling walking gives me, just tired muscles. Personally, it gives a completely different fatigue and I prefer, by far, the cycling fatigue.

I had 27 radiotherapy and 6 chemo sessions (Hell i didn't know it was that long ago!)nearly 9 years ago. I remember the radiotherapy hurting after a few weeks when the burning of the skin around my neck set in. I was working at the time so it didn't help. Also i had to put up with double take stares which doesn't help. As for the chemo, i've always said it was one of the most relaxing times of my life. You can't do anything, you have to sit there and let it flow into your body, but you have an excuse to be totally lazy which to an anxious slightly hyperactive person is quite a novelty. I had anti sickness drugs to combat the chemo, they must've worked as i felt fine. All in all i was fully back at work 4 months after my last treatment.

I had 4 operations for bladder cancer 30 months ago and am now going through what is called BCG treatment. This consists of 3 consecutive weekly treatments every 6 months (for 3 years) so 8 X 3 lots.
After my ops the biggest problem for me was mental.......I just lost interest in cycling for 6 months. Got over that and started the treatments.
Up until the last treatment I was fine and back on the bike within 7 days. The last tratment really wiped me out and I was off the bike for 4 weeks........just did 2 rides in the last week.
SO................
everyone will face the mental side differently.
You may react differently to the same treatments as time goes by...........I was feeling quite smug until the last one kicked me in the metaphorical nuts.
I wish you and all other sufferers all the best.
BTW
My wife has, for the 1st time ever, got psoriasis. The doctor say it is stress related........worrying about me:scratch:........so while I have been concentrating on getting better she obviously can do little but worry.
