Fast rolling compromise MTB tyres

Hi

Advice sought from those more knowledgeable than me (everyone)

I do a bit of road work then combination of climbs and descents around the Clent area. Advice on a lightweight, fast rolling but good gripping tyre for the Clent area. Bike is a Boardman Pro so max tyre size is roughly 26 x 2.4. Currently has the original tyres (Conti Road King 2.2)

Not too much to ask lol

Cheers

Schwalbe Hurricane - I got the 29" version, but 2 mates of mine bought the 26" ones, we used them on the Race the Sun Brecon Beacons event earlier in the year and they were great, noticed speed increase on trails. You do loose a bit of grip, but not massive enough to make me want to go back to what I had before (Mavic Crosstrail).

If they still do them, Schwalbe Smart Sam. Near continuous centre tread kept the wheels a rollin, with decent side lugs for traction. Nice rubber compound finely trod the line between pace and grip..

I've just ordered a Smart Sam Plus (with puncture protection) to replace the well worn rear on my trekking bike.

Work well on the ratty lanes that pass for roads down here and have reasonabl grip on single track, but wear quite quickly. When the back slides out, it does so in a civilised manner. They are a compromise, but I like them.
Best price I found for 29" is from Spa Cycles.
