Okay, this is the start of the real fantasy season with the first GT.

Which one does the panel prefer, road.cc or velogames? I've only ever done the velogames one so I have no preference.

I prefer velogames Nrtoones, but might be in the minority there.

We could have both, of course.

I prefer road.cc, but only just, they've kind of ruined it with the changing value of riders during races etc.

I also plan to actually maintain my team this time, as I forgot to during the classics. Which lead to an embarrassing performance.

There's already a league for road.cc. the code is 6648

After trying it last year, Roadcc has become my favourite. I like the transfer system, the update speeds, prizes on offer, a purists league if you don't want to mess with transfers, far nicer interface and generally spiffity boo.

Give it a twirl Speich, I think you'll like it.

I really like road.cc game, it allows my intense knowledge of the peloton to be displayed to all.

I preferred Velogames, even if it was somewhat slow in updating results.

I found the road.cc to be confusing, and I didn't like the transfer system: you pick your 9 and keep with them, and if they fall or die, so be it.

But I'll go with the flow.

I tend to take a long time to carefully choose my team.

The idea of transfers seems very complex and time-consuming. Could I join in the Road cc and not twiddle about with the transfers? or perhaps I could just substitute when someone falls off?

I recall being second in the Velogames league, the first time I tried it, and then have been going downhill since then. I am, as usual, very concerned about beating a certain forummer, you know who you are (Dayvo). ;)

So, if you can transfer cyclists, do you just add a load of climbers for a mountain stage? Or are you restricted to how many you can change around?

What was the name of the other one we tried?

Velogames is nine cyclists, which has to be two climbers, two sprinters, two domestiques, etc.
What is the one where you have any nine cyclists, regardless of their role?

You have to pick a team leader, sprinter, kom, 2 allrounders and 4 domestiques. You can only choose two riders from the same team. Like Velogames, you have a points limit so you can't just choose who you want. You can stay with what you pick and not alter it and this means you will stay in the purists league. If you make a transfer you will no longer be in the purists league.

Generally you get about two transfers per stage. You can use these to replace riders who drop out or you can use them tactically at the end of each stage to transfer in riders you fancy for the next stage subject to you having enough points. Careful though, you can easily mess up your team by making too many tactical transfers.

Throughout the game the value of the riders changes slightly according to how they are doing. Well and they increment up, bad and they increment down.

 I'm flattered that you consider me to be a serious rival! Look out for Team Easy DC!

Or just pick a team of dopers (e.g Alejandro Valverde), eh, Speich! ;)

Thank you Crackle. In that case, it was Nrtoones, that I liked. Choose who I like, and stick with those same nine for the whole race. It is also up-dated frequently, unlike, Velogames.

I will amend my first post above.

Edit: Do I need to join Road cc and then Register for the Fantasy Giro, or can I just join the Giro?
