Four weeks ago I had a fall and landed on the left side of my face...I could lie and say I came off my bike but I won't, as cycling after beer and tequila is really daft  Facial X-ray done at A&E, nothing fractured

The swelling is more or less gone and the scratches are slowly fading, but I still have residual pain around my eye and numbness. Both of these seem to be exacerbated by the cold, and feel worse when I come in from the cold.

I have seen my GP, she did tell me which nerve I have damaged, runs from ear through cheek and that it will take a few months to heal

Has anyone else experienced such a thing in a fall, bike or otherwise!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I had a wisdom tooth out last February. The dentist damaged a nerve with all the pulling etc. I ended up with a burst blood vessel near my gum as well. Both took around 8 months to, heal.

the tingling sensation in the side of my face was the worst, but thank god it has all gone now and there is no problem.

These things take a long time to sort themselves out. I had surgery involving an area of my cheek being removed and transferred to my nose in order to replace an area of cancer that had to be removed. This was nearly 14 months ago and I still get all sorts of sensations and pains in the nerve endings.
I was told to apply E45 regularly with a "definite pressure" in order to reduce scarring. Maybe you could try this Vickster?................ Only, of course, after asking your Doctor if this is OK in your specific case.

not on my face but my hip. Fell off the bike, major bruising on my hip and down my leg. Bruising and swelling only lasted about 10 days but after that, for about 2 months, every time i brushed or pressed against the area i had a major burning sensation (like when someone gives you a Chinese burn in school) . There was no marking, just that awful sensation. Would wake me up at night if i rolled over.

I did try some bio oil for the marks but it feels very odd to massage

Used to numbness, had back surgery 20 years ago, left calf has had altered sensation ever since. Just feels weird when being shaved!

Earlier this year I had an op on my maxillary sinus and I think that nerve was one of those damaged. (wisdom tooth went up,, fell into maxillary cavity, 5cm cyst formed around tooth which migrated next to nasal cavity wall and destroyed some of the jaw bone...post op was not pretty) ... *yes it was unusual and I felt like a freak show with the number of Dr's wanting a look pre-op at the jaw swelling

It took 1 week for my face to look right (it dropped 1 side) and 2 weeks for feeling to come back.. though that might have been influenced by the opiates... 6 weeks until the tingling and numbness went around my eye socket...

Now 3 months later and I get occasional twinge running up my face but they are getting a lot less frequent.

Original dental consultancy scared the s*** out of me when he said was a tumor though......sooooo glad he was wrong but it did stop me smoking.

Again not on the bike but various tingling in arms post rugby. Felt reasonably reassured on being told "Yeah that happens" and it did go away after a while.*

*Neither symptoms nor diagnosis involved anyone with any medical background

About 16 years ago i broke a cheekbone quite badly. It was broken into several bits under the eye, and clean breaks at the side of the eye and by the ear. There was nerve damage - a nerve running longitudinally/up-down from under the eye to the front teeth. That part of my face felt numb, and a little odd. If i tapped the area with my finger the feeling would register elsewhere on my face. And like the OP the numbness was worse in the cold. I was by the doctors that this would get better over time, and that after a year whatever nerve damage i still felt would, probably, be permanent. After a year things had got a lot better but not quite perfect. But the healing process continued and after about ten years i don't notice it. Just a slight numbness under the eye. I'm blathering on a bit. I think that in time you/OP will be absolutely fine. I was told to rub in E45 too. It can't do any harm.
