Just had an email yesterday to say that they are now available.

They are and adjustable handlebar stem which you can adjust whilst riding along without having to stop.

Think I might wait to see a few reviews before buying one.

Drop bars are a lot cheaper

These bars could be good for me as anything over 3 hours in the saddle means my back and neck start to ache (I've got a couple of fractured vertebrae) so being able to sit in an upright position would be great.

A drop bar bike gives 3 basic riding positions and for people like you with a need for an upright riding option the highest (flat) position can be set up for that.

I've got a mountain bike and a hybrid, the hybrid has me sat more upright and it still makes my back ache after around 3 hours. What drop bars would you recommend for someone who can have an aching back during a ride?

I'd really suggest talking to a good LBS to see what they could offer you, and to ask if they could set up a trial for you to see how the tops/ hoods/ drops positions matched your needs.

I've seen a couple of bikes with the bars high to give an upright position on the tops, and also flat bar bikes with quite high bars and bar ends to achieve the same - mainly to alleviate back problems. Never having had back problems (one thing at least that hasn't gone wrong with my body) I haven't got personal experience.

I didn't have anything against the concept of the gizmo in the OP btw, I just recoiled at the price, having seen friends' cheaper solutions to the problem.

I get what you're saying regarding the price but what sells it to me is the ability to adjust the height and angle of the bars without having to stop.

Has anyone bought one of these or heard anything good or bad about them?

Now $149.99

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
You may be able to adjust height but what about reach? This is 6.5" (165mm!) long ("neutral position"). Only does half the job, and weighs a ton.
