Extra Long Drop Callipers on an old frame

A quick question that I'm hoping someone will have the answer to.

I recently bought some Tektro (R559) side pull calliper brakes for an old touring bike that I have been attempting to restore. I've noticed that the washers supplied are curved, and fit together as they would pressed up against rounding tubing (so no problem at the front). The problem I have is that the part of the frame the rear brake is mounted to is a flat surface
(see hear http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/18/dagyma6u.jpg or http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/sun-solo-1958-sturney-archer-hub-bike.111540/ if the other doesn't work)

Do I need to replace the washers? (not the think kind you get in flat pack Ikea furniture) If so where can I get them from as my local Evans didn't have anything.

I had the same with my Raleigh when I restored that (Using Tektro R359s). The rounded concave washer is to allow the force to be spread evenly across the bar round the hole and not bend the tubing.

As you already have a flat surface, there's no need for the concave washer so just take it out
