extra levers for the wifes road bike..a rant

So i got these to help the good lady with her braking on her new spesh road bike..she struggles with the reach,ive added the grommet spacers but still bothers her.
what a thoroughly annoying job.
first issue, cable holder stop in the lever flips out and all the little bits fall into the lever recess..grrr
then after fishing them out and shacking the bike upside down I finally retrieve the parts.
then i find the cable has a slight pinch so had to crimp it to allow it to go back into the brake gear lever outer ..
Add a furrel to cut cable outer ,fit new lever, add furrel to the lever to caliper outer...cable decides to fray..grrrrr..
so a quick fix is now a need to go shopping for new cable inners..

Ha ha, yes it's an awkward job for something so small. Did you remember to fit ferrules to the cable outers where they sit in the moving part of the panic levers? I didn't and although it doesn't affect the way they work I had to re-do it all otherwise it would have preyed on my mind for ever. Threading the cables though the frame was a pain.

Yes @Globalti thats what caused the cable fray.
all done..i think she will only want the front but ive bought a spare new cable for the rear...

she is well insured..lol..she seldom goes over 10mph..she does 18mph on her 29er
Ill fit the rear tomorrow..

Ive always had them fitted by the LBS for the cost of the levers and cable as needed. Simples

I think tinkering that leads to ranting and/or satisfactory outcome is great fun.
Nevertheless, I tend not to rant on line, but rant in person to my cycling pals instead

TBH I'd have taken the opportunity to fit new inner cables when I fitted the brake crosstop levers.
