Have just got a new Exposure Rear LED Light and also the rechargeable battery charger and batteries. Both items cost me a total of £50. So whats it like and was it worth the £50.
I was surprised how small the light actually is. First impressions is that it looks well made. I do like the bracket that fixes your light to your seat post. Its very easy and fast to fit onto your seat post. The only issue I have with the bracket is that there is no adjustment to more the light up or down. So when I attached the light to my seat post it was pointing slightly down. I needed to place a bit of rubber on the bracket to get it straightened. So a good bracket but needs to be redesigned to allow better adjustment.
The on off switches operates by turning the head of the light. I would have preferred a button but the turning of the head does the job.
So what about the light in use? Is it bright and does the hype of this light do it justice?
Well I've got quite a number of rear lights that I have and have used it the past so how does it compare.
One of my current rear leds is the Blackburn Mars 4.0 which you can now pick up for around £22. So I decided to attach the Flare above the Blackburn on my seat post to see how the two lights compare. I tried both lights on constant and also on flashing modes.
Remember the flare does cost around £40 and the Blackburn Mars 4.0 at around £22.
Well the flare is bright and guess what the Blackburn is BRIGHTER. I am so annoyed. The blackburn completely burns out the light of the flare. Its not just a little bit bit brighter but is quite a bit brighter.
I am so shocked with this. I have just spent £50 on something that gets outdone by a £22 pound light. I should have just bought another mars 4.0.
I now think that I made the wrong decision buying the flare and should have waited an bought the new hope rear led when that comes out in the new year.
