exploding innertubes

last night I pumped my inner tube up to 110 psi. Cycled 11 miles on it. Just got to work. The inner tube exploded. I have been using this inner tube for over week. Checked the brakes no rubbing in tyre. Tyre is brand new for halfords. Where am I going wrong.

I've had them explode, not often just a few times. It's always been when they've been new (a week old is still new) so I've put it down to a duff tube and bad luck getting it.

If the tube came from Halfords, and the maximum pressure stamped on the tyre is more than you used, then take it back and ask for a replacement. I've never noticed a maximum pressure for a tube.

Probably pinched.

If not, check hole where valve goes through the rim. If car-valve-sized (Schrader) hole and you have Presta (high pressure) valves on your tubes, a tiny bubble of rubber will creep through the oversize hole and go bang when there is no other apparent cause. There is a special insert available to prevent this.

The only time an innertube has exploded on me was when I was using a petrol station pump and how embarrassing was that?
