Why is it that hi-viz jackets are so expensive! Cost most than some bikes :l I've been cycling around with my yellow builders/council jacket. Which cost about £4.99 in most garages. Was looking into getting a full yellow jacket. But the cost is madness. Been looking online and Ebay, and can't seem to find anything that's reasonably priced. This is an expensive hobby

Waterproof and breathable.

I have one for cold damp riding conditions

I also have a high vis running vest for warmer weather.

Sports Direct have some hi-vis Karrimor stuff at reasonable prices

Then stick with the builders' stuff from merchants and tool shops. The more that buy from the bike trade at 10 times the price, the more bike shops will fleece us.

I agree with Norm. The builder - style hi viz tabards are about the best thing out there for helping motorists to see you (after decent lights), far better than cycling specific reflectives since motorists are conditioned into recognising the two parallel waist strips and two over the shoulder strips and identifiying them as a person. Stick with your cheap builder's supplier hi viz kit.

I got mine for free as I found it in a hedge. Only problem is the logo 'WLDC' - West Lindsey District Council.

If you want to be seen, the builder's waistcoats with Scotchlite strips are better than the yellow cycling specific jackets.

I wear one when commuting.

+1 for Sports Direct - they are brilliant!

Granted some stuff is not amazing quality - but I buy all of my base layers in there and have had very few problems.

The Karrimor stuff is great as they do bike specific stuff, but when you just want extra thermals etc there are also lots of other bargains to be had.
