Anyone got suggestions on where to get bar end plugs for road bikes? New bikes have push in ones that always seem to fall out. I used to have plastic ones with an expander bolt, but all the expandable ones I can see online are for MTBs which are a different size.

I found some that look perfect in the US see here http://www.velo-orange.com/plexrobarpl.html

Aluminium would be fine, or plastic. Just anything that once in will stay in but be removable.

They are rubbish aren't they? I was thinking of putting a dab of acrylic/bath seal on mine but I've never got round to it.

I know that spraying hairspray into grips prevents them slipping on the bars, I'm wondering if spraying it around the bar ends before they are pushed in would help prevent them falling out?

You start winding the bar tape from the ends, and end up in the middle at the top - Tuck the bar tape into the bar ends, and the plug will be held firmly in place.

A bit of insulating tape wrapped round them keeps them firmly in place.

I've got them as standard with good quality bar tape.

I have never seen expandable ones free - just push in ones. The technique of folding the overlap of tape into the hole doesn;t seem to work either (not for me)

The long and the short is, they seem not to be available in the UK.....
