Hi All,

I've a beautiful (Sealed) new titanium square taper Simplon bottom bracket - but I can't find anything about the company at all.

(I've just found that there is an Austrian company that makes Simplon Mountain bikes)

The bag has no details at all - so is it likely to be ISO or JIS ?

Any opinions much valued !

Thank you !

Simplon is a small company making high-end bikes (racing, triathlon, training as well as MTBs). They seem to sell exclusively in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. I've seen a spec sheet for one but I'm damned if I can remember where, the gearing was Campagnolo but on their website www.simplon.com some current bikes have Shimano gears... so this probably doesn't help much...

ISO
ISO square taper spindles run longer, and taper down to a smaller end than J.I.S. spindles do.
Most European-made square taper cranks and bottom brackets use the ISO dimensions.
J.I.S. J.I.S. is the Japanese Industrial Standard, and is generally used on square taper cranks made in Asia. J.I.S. spindles are shorter and blunter, they don't taper down to quite as small a square. J.I.S. models include:
