Which one are you referring to? There is a whole series of them.

Oh cool.

I am doing the 60 mile variant, I'll see you there!

Will be wearing yellow jersey, black shorts and riding a Bianchi Via Nirone, come and say hello!

How do they marshall these events? I assume they do not close the roads off? Was literally just looking at doing the 30 miler with one of my kids

They are not Marshalled. Each junction will be signed to show you the route but no closed roads or marshalling. Hope you enjoy the rides, I'm now unexpectedly free this weekend so tempted to come across for it. Will decide on Saturday.

Wow, you've obvioulsy made good recovery from your last weekend double! Will be wearing a yellow Planet One jersey, come say hello if you do make it over.

So no real benefit to just picking your own route, other than the distraction of food stops? Not being sarcastic either!

Well I thought I had made a good recovery until I went to the gym last night, anything that involved my Quads was incredibly hard work. Still thinking about it though, will watch out for you if I make it.

Loco, I guess it depends on your viewpoint, for me I like the fact that I get to go somewhere new, knowing that they will have picked a good route, (Which is not always easy with an OS map in front of you) and can just ride. Also at each junction you know where your going without having to worry about refering to the map. You can just relax and concentrate on your riding and enjoying yourself. I fully accept they may not be for everyone but I enjoy them.

I also like the fact that there are other cyclists out there - quite pleasant to have some company on the longer rides when you're out for 4-5 hours.

Additionally the routes are well thought out and pretty quiet so if you are local(ish) and fancy the route, you have have one without mapping out your own if you keep hold of the maps or have a Garmin.

Also the events are timed, so it gives a competitive tinge to a non-competitive event if you see what I mean. Everyone is going the same route, and all are trying for a decent time, so it gives you a performance benchmark.

Really enjoyed it. Haven't seen my time yet, but did the 60 mile route in around 3hours 20 minutes.

I managed to get lost as well

I thought it was well organised, good route, and the weather was brilliant! Good laid back atmosphere, and lots of (bike) eye candy.
