I've seen the Evans Ride It! is happening in Leeds late Feb next year. It's for Leukemia & Lymphoma Research and I did their Wakefield event this year, which was well organised.

Feb 25th is for mountain bikes.
Feb 26th is the sportive. Route options:

Fun - 15 miles
Short - 30 miles
Medium - 50 miles
Long - 70 miles

I'm looking at the 50 miler as prep for the Cheshire Cat 74 miler a month later. I got a free entry form with the bike, so wouldn't pay the £12.50 entry fee.

Has anyone done one of the Evans events before? If so, what was it like?

I did the Thirsk one in Septhember and really enjoyed it despite having some problems, I wrote a full ride report with pictures here:

Plus a few of our other members rode it and also thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanks for reminding me about this one. Just booked onto the 26th now. I'm also doing the Cheshire Cat in March and you're right, this will be a good warm up for it.

You could watch out for the 5 reliabilty rides that are run by local cycle clubs in January and February - otley cc, seacroft wheelers, airedale olympic, harrogate nova and the yorkshire road club. The details normally appear on one of their websites over Christmas, but judging by this forum it might only be 4 this year - http://seacroftwheelers.myfreeforum.org/ftopic341-0-asc-0.php - I had aimed to do all five last year and managed to do zero.
