I am thinking of doing the July 3rd event. Mainly because it's local to me. Would be interested to hear your feedback on this event, if you do it.

I've done several of the Evans Rides, I've only done the short/fun routes as my 6yr old accompanied me, but the one we did were very well organised, never had to call out the support van, but know a couple of people that used it services & were fixed and back on thr road quickly

Just back from it, good day out. Soaked through as it was very wet but the organisation was good (although the timing chips weren't working so had to call out a number at start and finish for them to log), it was well signed, feed station was decent with water, energy drink, bananas, cake, flapjack then at the end in the sports centre with showers, coffee/tea, brownies, mars bars etc. It was a nice route chosen (generally good roads although for one stretch past Loch Chon the surface was awful). First time i've done the Dukes pass not going up the switchbacks, bit easier this way - although due to the rain and surface water had to hold back a bit on the descent which was disappointing, would be alot of fun on a dry day because the surface there is really good.

If the other evans ride it events are like that i'd recommend them - certainly felt like i got my moneys worth @ £12.50. Although sort of regret wearing my new white shoes now, they are filthy!

What other way is there to do the Dukes pass? I've ridden it from the Loch Katerine side before, but never from Aberfoyle, although I've driven th road several times ... just confused by what you mean about not going up the switchbacks. The time I did it from the Loch Katerine side, the descent into Aberfoyle was really good, but I would like to ride it from the Aberfoyle side, as that would be a more challenging climb.

Sorry about the mix up i just meant the previous times i've gone up the road from the Aberfoyle side.

You can also get over hill using the sustrans route for a bit then along some forest tracks but that wouldnt be suitable for skinny tyres.

Thanks, that's helpful. I am definitely very keen to do the 3rd July event. Now if I can just get my bike in time to do some training!
